The Kerstetters’ Park Slope Portrait Session – NYC Photographer

I met Rachel and Matt back when they got married in 2017, and in addition to being wonderful clients, they’ve become great friends as well. We all are similarly minded, and I even ran into Rachel’s mom at the Dallas Women’s March in 2018. It’s such a small world! We were thrilled to book a Park Slope portrait session with them this past year.

Rachel and Matt live in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn, New York and wanted to take portraits around their neighborhood in order to document this time in their lives. We started out in Prospect Park and watched everyone bring their good doggos to play on the grass given that it was a crisp, Saturday morning. Afterwards, we wandered around their neighborhood with the iconic brownstone buildings and shops. And then we got to take a family portrait with their calico, Rosie! (And if y’all know me, you know I am always 100% down to take a photo of your cat.)

If you’re wondering if I travel for clients, the answer is always yes! Please don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to come to wherever you are in the US.

New York City life is so different from DFW, and I love visiting every chance I get. The hustle of the city, the ability to find anything (especially food!) that you want, the lack of personal space (but feeling like you have your own little bubble); so many lives and stories on top of each other.

This was the coolest thing – Rachel and Matt live in the same neighborhood as my sister-in-law, (also) Rachel, and her husband, Nate. Here we are all being guests at their wedding together.

I don’t know if I love anything more than connecting people.

Rachel and Matt, we are forever grateful for your friendship and business!

Rachel and Nate’s Fort Worth Engagement Session

Ok, here’s the thing about this Fort Worth engagement session. Rachel is my sister-in-law. I’ve known her for almost 13 years, and in those years, she’s become one of my closest friends. So I. HAVE. FEELINGS. About this post.

Rachel moved to New York City several years ago, and a few years after that, we met Nate for the first time when he came to Texas for Thanksgiving. I remember thinking that night about what a great match he is for her. They’re both whip smart but also incredibly goofy (as you can see in the below photos).

One week from today, they are going to say their vows to one another in front of their close friends and family. Nick and I are in the bridal party, too! And we absolutely cannot wait to welcome Nate officially in the family (but let’s be honest, he’s been a member of the family for some time now!)

We opted to take their engagement photos in Fort Worth. The Lumen Room Fort Worth provided a stunning background (and a plan B option in case the weather was bad), and then we headed over to take a few photos at the Kimbell Art Museum. Little did we know it was also Homecoming, so we dodged quite a few high school groups taking photos. We made it work though!

Congratulations and welcome to the family, Nate!!

I haven’t been keeping up as much as I should with my blog, but if you’re curious about what we’re up to, give me a follow on instagram! 2020 is looking fierce so far, so definitely reach out if you’re interested in having us photograph your wedding, engagement, or event.

Rachel’s hair and makeup were provided by the wonderful WAFU Artistry.

Katie and Greg’s Bishop Arts Engagement Session

Katie and Greg’s wedding is just over the horizon and before the celebrations begin, I wanted to share a couple of my favorite photos from their engagement session. I’ve known Katie since my high school band days, so when she reached out to see if I’d photograph her wedding, I was extremely honored! I can’t express what a treat it is to work with someone I’ve known for over a decade. I had the best time photographing Katie and Greg while exploring the Bishop Arts District in Dallas, TX. I enjoyed capturing their laughter, love, and a bit of goofiness.

The wedding countdown has begun! 2 days!

We still have availability for some fall dates and are currently booking for 2020.

Tanner and Kim’s Fort Worth Engagement Session

Tanner and Kim’s Fort Worth engagement session – where should I start? I met them both working my first official photography job after graduating college with my BFA. Tanner and I worked in a large warehouse that processed marathon race photos. My job was to color correct photos for printing day in and day out, and I eventually upgraded to advanced Photoshop retouching along with a bit of graphic design. Tanner was technically my supervisor, but he and I became friends because we both shared the same taste in music and sense of humor. I also met Kim towards the beginning of working that job as well via Tanner’s and her group of amazing friends. At the time, I remember Tanner being super excited for her to move back to Fort Worth after she finished her degree in Austin. Additionally, I feel like we all became close friends when Tanner drummed for Nick’s band, Lindby, for awhile. These days, we all consider Tanner an honorary Lindby member since he occasionally provides AWESOME remixes, electronic collaborations, and production for them!

Here are links to a couple of my favorite tracks that Tanner worked on (this is not required listening – I’m just so proud and excited for my musically inclined friends)

When I first branched out on my own and decided to make this whole photography business thing work, Tanner and Kim were one of the first couples I ever photographed! So when it came time to celebrate their engagement, I reached out to see if they’d let me have the honor of taking their engagement photos. (They said yes!) We meandered around Fort Worth looking for the best light and then headed over to Trinity Park for some family portraits with their pup, Adelaide.

The Austin-based bachelor/bachelorette parties are done (and were such fun!), and tomorrow, Nick and I are SO EXCITED to attend their wedding as guests! We’ll be dancing the night away celebrating our good, good friends start this new chapter in life. Congratulations, Tanner and Kim!!!

Obligatory plug to say we’ve still got some Fall availability this year and would love to document your love!
